getting ready for Prague
I'm doing some reading for
20th Century World class today. I browsed ahead in my text to read a little about some of the developments in Czechoslovakia in the late 20th century. Following the "Velvet Revolution" and the subsequent "Velvet Divorce" of the Czech and Slovak Republics around 1992, the Czech Republic made great strides in privatizing its economy. I found the following fact quite amusing:
A country where not a single roulette wheel had spun in 1989 by the mid-1990s had the highest number of gambling casinos per capita in the world.
Hmm, I wonder if Pammy and I will be doing any gambling...? Ano or ne?
